Scotch is yummy...

Scotch tastings are kind of like the last steak before the electric chair... just without the impending death that follows. Dec. 4th at The Draughting Room in Springhouse they will be having a 4appetizer, 5 scotch tasting. Lock it up. The last tasting I did was on my vaca to Scotland back in '05.. the pic in my profile is from the Ben Nevis Distillary.

This is a mimic of a picture that is in "Michael Jackson's Complete Guide to Single Malt Scotch"... and it's not "YEEHEE" sleepin' with 'lil boys MJ.. it's "glug glug" master of all alcohols MJ.
The reason for our trip was Brian's, aka Bird, Bachelor Party. We spent a few days in Edinburgh, Fort William, and Glasgow and in the middle we found time for golfing at St. Andrew's. Now that doesn't sound like much, except we went in the rainy season (yes I know.. IT'S ALWAYS THE RAINY SEASON IN SCOTLAND).. but this were very speficially the MORE rainy season. We checked the forcast when we jumped on the plane and it said there was 2 feet of snow up in Ft William. Our thoughts were..."So be it, it'll be fun anyway, we're on vacation."
By the time we got up to Ft William, the snow was gone and it was about 50 degrees. Unseasonably high temperatures for the 3 days we were in Ft William. It was a gift from the heavens. As you can see here... Bird also loves him some Scotch...

Here was a quality photo taken of me getting out of one of the St Andrews' sand traps. We played the Eden Course without a drop of rain to be found... again... the pros at the shop said they weren't expecting to be open at all over the next 2 weeks... but alas..someone was looking out for us.
Once we got to Ft William.. .we found the best bartender ever! Now, the hotel bar closes at midnight.... this picture was taken somewhere around the 3:00am hour. The bartender doubled as the desk clerk... so he would go work the counter, we would flag him over and he would open up the metal gate halfway (as you can see), pour us a round of pints and scotch, close it up and head back to the desk.
I had to share one of my favorite pics from the trip... because what would a Bachelor party in Scotland be w/o a Playboy? We meant to mail that in to them and tell them about the trip, but we never got around to it. Anyone know anyone at Playboy that might be interested in telling our story? I doubt it, but it was worth a shot.
All this just because I thought about getting Scotch-drunk on the 4th. Ahh.. booze.
Beep Beep.
